2023 – A Year In Review
Running a charity is a lot of work. Federal and state reports have to filed, the New Mexico State Police wants some papers too, volunteers have to be trained, training needs to be planned, scheduled and supervised. There is fund raising, equipment purchase, repair and maintenance and, of course, there are missions and community activities.
Thanks to the amazing work of all of our volunteers, we not only did all that, we did it very well.
We responded to a number of state Search & Rescue missions, we organized and conducted a multi agency training, we supported the community on many occasions, we made a lot of new friends and had a lot of fun. Looking back at our first full year as a State of New Mexico recognized Search & Rescue and emergency volunteer organization we can say with certainty: It was a good year. We spent more than 300 volunteer hours on missions and community support events. Add another 100 hours on training, organization and outreach.
This is the time of the year to say “Thank You”. Thank you to our volunteers, thank you to all of you who supported us, thank you to the first responder community in the city and the county, thank you to the city officials who helped us, thank you to all the amazing people in Roswell and Chaves county. We are proud to be part of this community and are committed to do what it takes to help whenever and wherever our help is required.

The new year brings new challenges and opportunities. We will expand our services even more to provide aid & comfort to those who need it the most – in the wilderness and in out city streets. Our Emergency Response Vehicle allows us to be faster, carry more material and provide better aid, including Basic Life Support. But the truck will also serve as a communications hub and as a shelter in the heat and in the cold – for our team out in the field, for our subjects or patients. We were also able to purchase a Polaris 6×6 Ranger which will help us to get help and equipment into the wilderness, but also to provide help in the more rural areas of our county. All of this wouldn’t have been possible without the help of our volunteers, friends, and our partners.

We wish you all a beautiful and peaceful holiday season. Take the time to reflect what is most important to you. Your family, your friends, your neighbors. This is also a good time to think about yourself and how you can give back by volunteering for something that is worth your time and effort. We are a public charity. We serve the State of New Mexico and our community. We need volunteers like you to help us make a difference in the life of people when they need help the most.
Happy Holidays and a great 2024.
